For those unable to experience experimental Inuk artist Tanya Tagaq's sonic contribution to National Maritime Museum's "Polar Worlds" exhibit in situ in London, UK, Tagaq announces the work will be released as a digital EP titled Toothsayer via Six Shooter Records. Toothsayer, a 5-track companion soundtrack to the circumpolar exhibit, is a conceptual collection that expands Tagaq's prestigious compositional body of work with ambient electronic and piano-driven textures, and features Tagaq in concert with long-time percussionist Jean Martin and UK experimental electronic artist Ash Koosha. Tagaq is an improvisational singer, avant-garde composer and bestselling novelist. A member of the Order of Canada, Polaris Music Prize and JUNO Award winner, Giller Prize Long Listed and bestselling author and recipient of multiple honourary doctorates, Tagaq is one of the country's most original and celebrated artists. Her improvisational approach lends itself to collaboration across genres and forms. Her work includes numerous guest vocal appearances (Buffy Sainte-Marie, Weaves, A Tribe Called Red, Fucked Up), original avant-garde classical compositions (Kronos Quartet, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra), commissions and more. In its many forms, from novel Split Tooth to most recent full-length album Retribution, Tanya Tagaq's art challenges static ideas of genre and culture, and contends with themes of environmentalism, human rights and post-colonial issues

Magic in its purest form. I love Floating Points, I love Pharoah Sanders, I love The London Symphony Orchestra. It's a match made in heaven, and the result is absolutely gorgeous. I have loved this record since its release, and realized I don't own it for some reason. So its time to change that. 9.5/10 honestly could become a 10/10 on an indepth vinyl relisten. angrypizza98
